The Quincy Smelter Association is a grassroots organization that
stemmed from the need to preserve the Keweenaw mining heritage. The
Quincy Smelter stands as a memento of a bygone era of a people
determined to etch out an existence under extreme conditions and who
laid the foundation of today’s towns and villages.
Through the preservation of this site, the Quincy Smelter Association
hopes to keep alive those stories of yesterday so they can stand as a
tribute and reminder to our children and grandchildren of our Copper
Country mining heritage.
